Cyprus Teachers of English Association
Cyprus Teachers of English Association (CyTEA) is an association in the field of English Language Learning and Teaching. The association is open to all English language teachers, or other foreign language teachers, regardless of what educational level they work at or whether they work in the private or state sector. Our aim is to create a strong professional community which supports its members and assists them in remaining up-to-date in their careers.
CyTEA is an association which aims towards the professional development of its members working primarily to develop networks amongst related institutions and individuals involved in language education basically relevant to the English language but to any other language too. This includes classroom teachers, administrators of language programmes, writers and publishers, language assessors and researchers.
In order to achieve its goals CyTEA runs a variety of events such as local and international conferences, open talks and workshops and two or three-day summer schools. In addition to this, CyTEA is a member of other international associations such as SEETA. CyTEA is very proud to announce that from this year is also an IATEFL Associate Member.
CyTEA annually offers a professional development grant (Pavlos Pavlou grant) to support travel to and participation in the international IATEFL conference in the UK.
‘Embracing Change in ELT: Challenges and Perspectives’ is one further example of the high quality professional development that we bring to our members. It is a conference with stimulating and timely talks and workshops, offering insights into the developments happening here in Cyprus and bringing international experts to contribute to the discussion on some of the most current topics in the area of foreign language teaching and learning.
Finally, I must thank the volunteers and the CyTEA committee who work tirelessly for their professional community, generously giving of their time and energy. Without them this wouldn’t be possible.
CyTEA is now an IATEFL Associate Member
