ELT Perspectives: the challenge of assessment
In a world where continuous fast-paced change has become the norm, new demands are placed on the ELT teacher at every level. In the midst of this continuous change,our primary aim continues to be effective student learning.
In achieving this, a main challenge to address is effective and appropriate use of assessment, an area which has an important impact on student learning but has yet to be fully embraced by teachers.
This talk will present recent developments in assessment and will translate these into practical ideas which can be easily implemented by teachers.
Short Bio:
She holds an MA from the University of Reading (UK) and a PhD from the University of Nottingham.
She has extensive experience as an EFL teacher and teacher trainer. She has taught EFL in a variety of contexts and has trained teachers in Cyprus, Serbia, India, Vietnam, Malaysia, the UK, Germany, the Czech Republic and Tunisia. She has authored and co-authored books and articles on assessment, technology, early language learning and CLIL. She has served on the TESOL CALL-IS committee and is a past Chair of IATEFL’s Learning Technologies SIG and the Cyprus Teachers of English Association (CyTEA). She is currently Inspector General at the Cyprus Ministry of Education and Culture and the Coordinator of the Cyprus CLIL Coordinating Centre.
